TRYOUTS/PRACTICES FALL 2016

Welcome back! The fall interscholastic sports season is here!

If you are in grades 6th, 7th or 8th and interested in participating in Soccer, Cross Country or Field Hockey this fall please note the following information:

BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER:

The first tryout will be Monday, September 12th.

6th, 7th and 8th grade Boys Tryouts will be from 2:30 - 4:30.

6th/7th grade Girls Tryouts will be from 5 - 6:30.

8th grade Girls Tryouts will be from 4:30 - 6:00

There will be a 7th grade and an 8th grade team this year for both boys and girls.  6th graders will be allowed to tryout and make the 7th grade team. 6th Graders who wish to tryout should come ready to participate in the first tryout. The number of participants seem low so 6th graders will be able to participate.

CROSS COUNTRY:

The first practice will be on Monday, September 12th from 2:15 - 3:30.  Runners are to meet in the technology room right after school.  (Bring running sneakers and clothes)

FIELD HOCKEY:

Tryouts will start on Monday, September 12th from 2:15 - 3:45.  Interested athletes should meet outside by the basketball courts right after school. 6th Graders who wish to tryout should come ready to participate in the first tryout. The number of participants seem low so 6th graders will be able to participate.

PLEASE “signup” for the sport you would like to play on the bulletin board down by the gym.

You must have a valid “physical” on file with the school nurse in order to participate.  If you had a “physical” over the summer here at the school you are automatically on the list.  If you had a “physical” from your family doctor you need to turn in a copy of the physical to the school nurse to be added to the list.  “Physicals” are good for one year from the date of the physical.

LOCKERS:
Student/Athletes should not be leaving personal belongings/valuables in the locker room unless they are locking them in a locker.  If a student
wants to "own" a locker to put their things in during practices and games they need to bring in a combination lock and give the combination to Mr. MacLeod or Ms. Savage.  DO NOT LEAVE THINGS IN THE LOCKER ROOM UNLESS THEY ARE LOCKED IN A LOCKER!

WHO PLAYS FIRST?:
7th grade teams will play the first game all year if it is a "same sex" doubleheader.  If it is a boy/girl doubleheader the GIRLS teams will play the first game this year.  This is true for all sports this year within the league.

Transportation:
Students are required to travel to and from any “away from” school events by means provided by the district. A student may leave an event with his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) by notifying the coach/advisor in writing, before the contest that his/her child will be leaving with them after the game.  Students are not allowed to travel home from any “away from” locations with other participants parents/guardians.
